To Who Knows Where?
April 3-5 2005
It's time for another Mystery Tour! We've done two of these in previous years, and always have fun trying to fool our very
sophisticated and clever McLean Travelers. Our destinations have included the five star Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club in Ponte
Vedra Beach, Florida, and the lovely and historic Sagamore Resort on Lake George in the Adirondack region of New York state.
So even if you don't know where you are going, you have to know that wherever you are going, it's going to be somewhere really
great! And our 2005 tour is no exception!
We'll give you a few hints, but even so, we'd be willing to bet that no one will even come close to guessing our mystery
destination this time! Unique, distinctive, spectacular are a few words used to describe the luxurious resort property where
we will be staying. Step outside, and the surrounding area offers an abundance of history, culture, arts and entertainment.
We have a wonderful three days planned for you. We offer you scenic views and quaint villages, mixed in with exciting nightlife
and exceptional dining experiences! We'll visit a gem of an art museum, take in some literary haunts, and learn a bit about
history and another culture as well. No passports required, but please make sure you have a government issued photo id for
this travel! Bring a swim suit, as there will be time to relax and rejuvenate at the indoor pool and fabulous spa! But mostly,
bring a sense of adventure and intrigue as we travel together to who knows where????

Sicily to the Amalfi Coast and More!
September 10-20, 2005
It has often been said that the three most beautiful towns in all of Italy are Taormina (in Sicily), Positano (on the Amalfi
Coast) and Bellagio (in Lake Country)! Two of these three towns are located in Southern Italy.......Taormina and Positano!
How lucky we are to be staying in both places on this special tour that was created exclusively for our McLean Travelers!
We begin our tour in Taormina, Sicily...an elegant town filled with beautiful squares, lovely fountains, ornate churches
and incredible views looking out over the Ionian Sea. The impressive Mount Etna rises majestically in the background. We'll
be staying for three nights at the San Domenico Palace hotel, an award winning, luxurious property that was once a monastery.
We'll explore together the ancient sites that were enjoyed by the Greeks and Romans over 2000 years ago....from the Teatro
Greco to Syracusa, once home to Archimedes. We'll sample the Sicilian food and wine, and make an exciting excursion to Mt.
Etna, taking a cable car ride to the top of this still active volcano!
A ferry ride across the straits of Messina takes us into the "boot" of Italy, and the province of Calabria.
We'll overnight in Vibo Valentia, and visit the charming hilltop town of Monterossa...home to our Tour Manager and friend,
Antonio Parisi. Antonio's town will roll out the red carpet for us, offering a unique and authentic Calabrian experience unavailable
to the normal tour group!
Then it's on to Positano, by way of the famed Amalfi Drive. An engineering feat, this slender two lane road offers gorgeous
vistas and sheer drops to the turquoise waters below! It brings us to Positano, a small and colorful fishing village. This
picturesque "vertical" town is built straight up a mountainside! We'll be staying on top for three nights at the
five star Le Agavi hotel. An excursion by waterjet to the chic isle of Capri will surely be a highlight! Most memorable
of all, however, will be dinner and a sunset concert at the Villa Ruffolo in the hilltop town of Ravello...;where they say
"the sky is closer than the sea!"
We continue to Rome, with a visit en route to Pompeii. An eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD79 engulfed this ancient town
in ash... ultimately preserving it for over 1700 years when it was re-discovered by archeologists. Once in Rome, we'll be
staying two nights at the Grand Hotel Minerve, with its perfect location at the Pantheon and just steps from the pleasing
Piazza Navona. A Farewell Dinner on their roof terrace, followed by a carriage ride to the Trevi Fountain, makes for a perfect
ending to a perfect tour! La vita Ŕ bella!
NOTE: Tour participants should be fit and able to walk through archeological sites, up stairs and over stones.
NOTE: Those wishing to stay on in Italy and return from Rome up to one week later may do so if they notify Nancy at least
90 days prior to departure.
